Advise you on tasteful and appropriate dress styles, color scheming, and decorations, according to season and time of day?

Help you select appropriate and meaningful musical selections, and coordinate the procession so that it flows smoothly with the music?

Advise you on proper etiquette, including the appropriate wording of your invitations and addressing them?

Help you find vendors who will meet your needs while staying within your budget?

Book hotel rooms for out of town guests?

Confirm with your vendors to ensure their prompt arrival?

Arrange for the majority of your pictures to be taken at a time which will minimize the wait for your guests?

Be responsible for resolving any problems that might occur before or during the ceremony or reception?

Have a bag for emergencies, with items such as scissors, safety pins, bobby pins, hairspray, deodorant, breath mints, tissues, emergency snacks, etc.?

Ensure that all personal and rented items are returned promptly after the wedding?

Make it their ultimate goal that your wedding and reception are carried out according to your expectations?

A word of advice regarding reception hall staff coordinators

If your hall provides a coordinator with your rental, we encourage you to find out specifically what duties she will perform. 

Will she do all of the tasks listed above? 

Will she provide written instructions to the vendors and bridal party so that everyone knows where they are needed at all times? 

Does she use a two-way radio to communicate discretely with assistants during the ceemony?

Many on staff coordinators have other responsibilities within the hall, such as booking events, overseeing caterers, or acting as general manager.  This can limit their availability and coordinating services.  If you find that you need more personal attention than what your hall offers, consider having Custom Coordinators assist you in creating just the wedding you envisioned.
